I have to say, I’m getting a little scared for Bodog. It’s just been one thing after another with this online sportsbook. It started when they were sued over the name, and had to change their domain to Bodoglife, but things got progressively worse from there.
After several run-ins with the IRS, Bodog had millions of their funds seized. And now people are reporting that payment processors won’t go near them. As such, more complaints have arisen over the slowing payments – to the point where their reviews are going down.
Now the IRS claims they know how Bodog has been transferring its money, using Malta-based banks, one of which belongs to Calvin Ayre, to transfer money to American banks and pay its users. But, because the IRS now knows the location of some of these establishments, thanks to some unnamed bigmouth, it’s going to be even harder for Bodog to make payments.
After all of this even, it turns out that while Bodog claims to operate in Malta, it has no actual license or jurisdiction to operate there, and so they may be facing even more criminal charges, internationally.
As Gambling911 reports, Ayre is in hiding. If this is true, I must say I’m pissed at the guy. I think he knew things were getting bad when he decided to retire, and leave the country. And then he posts blogs and videos about how rich he is, and how much fun he’s having, and how well he’s doing, while his predecessors are left to pick up the mess.
Gambling911 says, “He was named one of the world's "sexiest bachelors" by People Magazine. He appeared on the cover of Forbes "Billionaire Issue". But along with the sudden fame, there are those in U.S. politics that believe what Bodog.com CEO Calvin Ayre is doing does not qualify as "legal" in the United States.”
There’s even speculation, as jocular as it may be, that he’s sold his soul to the devil. I have noticed that his blog is no longer there, and his website paints him as this charitable, kid-loving Saint, and perhaps this is because he is trying to avoid prosecution. I know he’s not letting on where he’s visiting.
