Super Bowl!

Welp. The big day is upon us. I was pretty pissed to see that the Giants didn’t make it to the Super Bowl this year. Not just because I was planning to invest in them in an online sportsbook, but also because I have neighbors from Boston and I so enjoyed rubbing it in their face last year.
I was also pretty pissed to see that my runner-up team, my understudy, the Eagles didn’t make it to the Super Bowl. Instead it’s the Arizona Cardinals vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. Well you know what? Even though the odds are slim to nothing, I am rooting for the Cardinals. I think they can do it – just based on the number of Cinderella stories in the past couple of years. This is not, of course, my decision in online sports betting as I have decided to sit this one out this year. I don’t want to lose money but I will not bet on the Steelers. Call me stubborn.
Thank you so much, Plaxico, for shooting yourself in the leg and screwing it up for the rest of us. Jeepers..
Well, anyway, did you hear about the guy on ESPN that got death threats for saying that the Cardinals were going to lose? And also, listen to this:
Two Arizona Cardinals fans hung their team's flag in a tree and burned "Go Cards," "Go Kurt" and "I heart AZ" in McNabb's yard with diesel fuel. $2,000 in damage.
An address label on the box that had been left led the fuzz to a Chandler resident Rex Perkins who admitted to the “pranks.” His co-worker, Ryan Hanlon, also admitted to the same. Each of them were arrested, fingerprinted and photographed after being cited for misdemeanor criminal damage.
"When they decided to get diesel fuel out and start damaging the yard, they crossed the line," said Chandler police Sgt. Joe Favazzo.
Why McNabb? He’s the coolest son-o-bee out there.

Manny to be Traded Again?

Will the San Francisco Giants see more underdog-history in the making? This is the assumption some are making with its recent addition of Randy Johnson, and possible talk of Manny Ramirez. Ramirez was traded to the LA Dodgers in July of last year, and ever since the team has celebrated an ongoing success, finishing first in their division. What will next year’s MLB online sports betting have in store?
The Red Sox should have known better. If they didn’t learn anything from the sale of the great Babe Ruth, I have no sympathy. Manny Ramirez is the only explanation that was given in the breaking of “Bambino’s Curse,” and I’d hate to think the Red Sox would send themselves into another 86 year long losing streak. Well, no, I wouldn’t hate it; I’d revel in it.
Anyway, Manny hit a foul ball that plowed a boy in face, who was sitting in the crowd. Of all of the thousands of baseball fans that were there that day, he hit a boy whose family owned Bambino’s ranch. Bam – for the first time in 86 years, the Red Sox win a World Series.
Whether or not you are a superstitious person, you can’t argue the improbability or uncanny coincidence there.
“He’s a champion, he’s a winner, and we really couldn’t be happier with trying to make the club better at this point in time than to do this. We wanted this player at least for the next two months, and hopefully longer. So we’re willing to take the chance and go with this guy,” said a Dodgers spokesperson. “There was obviously a point in time that you have to make a major decision. We did and we were glad we did it. Hopefully it pays dividends. We’re confident we’ve got one of the best hitters in baseball coming in here — one of the best hitters of his generation from the right side.

Safe Gambling Practices to be More Apparent in Sportsbook

eCOGRA has extended its seal to online sportsbooks, and it’s about time! I’m not complaining, I love eCOGRA, and if it weren’t for them, I think there would be a lot of online sportsbetting fans cheated out of their money! It would just seem to me that sportsbooks would immediately be included in their roster of accepted websites, as they are used just as frequently as casinos.
eCOGRA now covers all bases, so they will be available for all of your gaming needs. I wonder if those guys that got ripped off by Bet10 would be able to apply for some sort of arbitration now. They serve as a mediation service to anyone who might need it, which is a lovely thing to have – especially if you’re an U.S. citizen – because many times when something comes up with an internet gambling site, the authorities tend to turn the other cheek. If I were an internet gambling operation, the last place I’d want to hear from is eCOGRA, unless they were on my side of course.
I can’t say that they were too behind the times since many of the online casinos they’ve prompted include internet sportsbooks as well, and I would imagine that they would have to inspect every gambling offer a website has since their process is so thorough.
They haven’t yet listed any approved sportsbooks and I imagine this is because it takes so long to get an approval. They have to physically visit your headquarters and inspect that on top of your website, so it’s no walk in the park. They have approved a couple of mobile gambling sites, which is a new feature. To date Wild Jack Mobile and Zero 36 mobile are the only two that have made it on the list.
The company has also offered its seal to live betting facilities, and I almost wonder if this will include offline sportsbetting lounges as well. I’m pretty excited to see who’s gonna make it.

Sorry, NY!

I love the Giants. I really do. But I’ve been crazy about the Eagles for so long. I don’t feel like a traitor for rooting for the Eagles this year or for investing in them in online sportsbooks. You see Donovan McNabb was a college All Star just one hour south of here. It was the position that would give him his career in the NFL. So rooting for the other team doesn’t make me feel bad at all. I know deep down inside Mcnabb is still a local. Maybe this time in the Bowl they might just be able to keep it together and get a ring. They’ve sort of always been the little team that could… an then couldn’t.
I would love to see it be Philly vs. Baltimore this year because these are two fresh comers to the big game. Especially Baltimore, I think they would give a fight worthy of the millions that get spent in the ads.
I still find myself in upset all these later thinking about the late hit in the Philly Carolina game where poor Mcnabb was turned into a human pretzel. But those days in the age of Philadelphia are over, it died with the loss of TO, and thank god it did.
For those of you looking to bet on the upcoming big games should pay very close attention to the game between the Ravens and the Steelers. Pittsburgh may be ahead, but the ravens are all but dead, and they have pulled surprises out of nowhere before. There are three games left and nothing is set in stone. Ok maybe personally deep down I hate the Steelers, but I really couldn’t tell you why. I have just always hated the Steelers.
But no matter who wins they will need to face very motivated Eagles. This is their year and it’s been a long time coming, in fact I couldn’t tell you a team that’s worked harder for it. Go Eagles baby! Sorry Plaxico. You really shot yourself in the foot in this one... quite literally.

There are a number of companies that will not be running their Super Bowl advertisements because they feel that during times of economic uncertainty, it wouldn’t send the right message. Bull hockey. If we were concerned about any sort of message other than who’s going to take home the ring, we wouldn’t be watching football!
Whether you’re betting in online sportsbooks or looking to rub it in your friend’s face when you’re team wins, you watch the Super Bowl because…you like football! AND! The commercials! The commercials have become just as much of a national pastime as their counterpart. From Mean Joe to a wardrobe malfunction, these commercials are a piece of pop culture.
I would like to think that watching the big game, I could get away from the current state of the world for a little while. I don’t want to think about foreclosures or poverty or dying soldiers. I want to think about the money I STAND to make when I bet on sports! I want to think about something innocent and happy and fun and traditional!
And as such, I don’t need no stinkin’ commercials making me feel sad or guilty about the economy! I want laughter and joy and beer and half-naked MEN for a change! This is the only time of the year where television viewers actually WANT to watch commercials and waste nearly an hour of their life doing so! Make it count, people!
I think perhaps the reason that there are going to be so few commercials this year is because for one, they jacked the price up a full million per 30-second ad. I think big name corporations that can’t afford this don’t want to lose their image and so they blame it on the economy – in the viewer’s interest.
There are also adverts like GoDaddy’s that get banned because they refer to a woman’s vagina. Ahhh, nothing says domain names like female genitalia.

Some officials in Australia think that they’re going to eradicate problem gambling in the country by releasing smart cards. One anti-gamer thinks that online sportsbooks targets – yes that’s the word they used, as though sportsbooks are out to get us – lonely women who are in need of recreation and social fulfillment, and so releasing cards that will allow punters to give themselves a spending limit will change this.
Well, what’s wrong with online sports betting if you’re bored and lonely once in a while? I mean, if you go by Bet10’s logic that you cannot consult with other punters when you bet on sports, then shouldn’t you be alone when you wager?
Any reputable online sportsbook that you bet on will allow you to put a spending limit on your account. Aside from that, you can put a restriction on your account that will prevent you from wagering for a designated amount of time. So I guess I really don’t understand this stigma that online gambling sites are irresponsible, since they’ve thought of this before the anti-gamers did.
I’m not saying the card isn’t a good idea. I just don’t foresee many punters taking advantage of something that is already at their disposal, unless they’re forced into it, of course. But since the punter decides what his spending limit is there’s tons of room for error.
There’s never going to be a surefire answer to problem gambling, just as there’s no surefire answer to alcoholism, shopping addictions, addictions to drug prescriptions, etc. As adults, we must realize that we are quite prone to addiction – in any vice or simple recreational activity. We must also, as adults, learn to take responsibility for our own habits.
You know there are people that report that they’d rather browse the web than have sex? To me, that’s the surest sign of an addiction. If a 20 year-old man prefers sitting on myspace to his carnal needs and desires, that’s a problem that should be looked into.

Online sports betting fanatics, I would suggest that you steer clear of 10Bet, after an incident occurred where two men were not paid their winnings, because they discussed with each other which teams to bet on in an accumulator. This is of course, not the first instance where the site has come into question for circumventing a payment. There are numerous complaints of slow payments, and one member actually says that someone posted bets on his account and he lost money because of it. Not cool at all.
This particular case gets me though, I have to say. Since when are you not allowed to consult a friend when you’re betting on sports? I mean, isn’t this what oddsmakers are for? I suppose they shouldn’t be permitted to release odds on a team, or pick a favorite, because that usually leads a person to bet on that team. Moreover, what of all the websites that give you tips on betting?
Hypothetically, are you then not allowed to tell a punter that you bet on the Giants winning the Super Bowl if they bet on the Titans? I’m sure this behavior is permitted, even though it falls in the same fraudulent activity.
I suppose that we should also not be permitted to read news articles regarding the outcome of certain sporting events, because it might educate us on how well a team as performed in a season, and therefore influence our betting decision.
This is just another case where a punter won too much money that a sportsbook didn’t want to pay out. It’s no different than an online sportsbook that puts a limit on the amount you can win before they shut you down.
I feel like I’m beating a dead horse here, but I reiterate: ALWAYS research the gambling websites that you invest in. If they are crooks, there will always be a horror story available on the internet… providing the site has been around for a while.
